岡山県倉敷市で、い草を使ったかごをつくる須浪亨商店の「いかご」。

使われているい草は、一本一本をしっかりと縒って編み上げられているため、軽やかな見た目でありながら丈夫。日々のお買い物にはもちろん、収納かごとしても気軽にお使いいただけます。

底のマチが広く、荷物をたっぷりと入れやすいのも特徴です。お弁当や食品など幅のあるものも収まりやすく、見た目以上の収納力があります。

持ち手には革が巻かれており、手当たりがなめらかで、荷物を入れたときにも持ちやすいつくり。天然素材の素朴な風合いに革がほどよく引き締まった印象を添え、性別を問わず使いやすいデザインです。女性はもちろん、男性にも自然にお持ちいただけます。

使い始めのい草は、みずみずしい青みを帯びた色合い。使い込むほどに少しずつ落ち着き、やがて艶のある美しい黄金色へと変化していきます。時間とともに表情が育っていくのも、天然素材ならではの楽しみです。

A Basket That Grows More Beautiful with Time

The Ikago basket is handcrafted by Sunami Toru Shoten in Kurashiki, Okayama, using natural igusa rush.

Each strand is firmly twisted and woven, making the basket both lightweight and durable. Its wide gusseted base provides generous capacity, making it practical for everyday shopping and storage.

The handles are wrapped in leather for a smooth, comfortable grip. The combination of natural igusa and leather gives the basket a simple, understated look that works well for both men and women.

When new, the igusa has a fresh greenish hue, gradually changing to a beautiful golden color with use. This natural aging is one of its charms.

Light, strong, and easy to carry, the Ikago is a versatile basket that becomes more beautiful and uniquely yours over time.
