A One-of-a-Kind Expression, Colored by Flame

A wall clock that marks the hours with brass slotted screws in place of numerals.

The slots of the screws are arranged radially toward the center of the dial, creating a distinctive design. The gentle gleam of brass stands out against the deep tones of the blued iron, adding a subtle accent to its quiet presence.

“Bluing” is a finishing process in which iron is heated with a burner and its color is controlled through changes in temperature. Layers of blue, purple, green, and black emerge across the surface, revealing different expressions depending on the light and viewing angle.

Unlike a uniformly painted finish, the depth, distribution, and variation of color differ from piece to piece. These unpredictable nuances make every clock truly one of a kind.

The substantial frame surrounding the dial also displays the distinctive color variations created by the bluing process. Variations can be particularly pronounced along the frame: some pieces may appear more blue, others nearly black, while some may carry hints of purple or green.

With its compact diameter of approximately 19.5cm, the clock is easy to incorporate into a living room, bedroom, entrance, study, or shop. Its dimensional frame casts subtle shadows across the dial, bringing a quiet presence to the space.
