霞土地から生まれた、透明な青

花岡さんが生まれ育った岡山・備前で採れた、食用にはならない未熟米。その籾殻を焼いてできた灰をガラスに溶かし込むことで生まれた「GRICE」シリーズ。

本来なら役目を終えてしまうはずだったものが新たな素材となり、澄んだ青として透明なガラスの中に息づいています。

ひとつの作品の中に現れる青の繊細な濃淡は、光を受けるたびに表情を変え、見つめるほどにその奥行きへと引き込まれます。

涼やかでありながら、どこか深さも感じさせる、GRICEならではの美しい青をお楽しみください。

A TRANSPARENT BLUE, BORN FROM THE LAND

The GRICE series is created using ash made from the husks of immature rice that is not suitable for consumption, harvested in Bizen, Okayama, where Hanaoka was born and raised. The ash is melted into the glass, giving rise to GRICE’s distinctive, original blue.

What might otherwise have gone unused is transformed into a new material, living on as a clear, luminous blue within the transparent glass.

The delicate variations of blue within each piece shift subtly with the light, revealing a sense of depth that draws the eye in the longer you look.

Cool and refreshing, yet rich with depth, GRICE invites you to enjoy the beauty of a blue found nowhere else.
