丹念に積み重ねた緻密な手仕事から生まれた、力強くも温かい器

一つの木塊を丁寧に掘り進めて形を作る「刳物（くりもの）」。あらかじめ組まれた板を使うのではなく、ひとつの木塊から命を削り出すようにして生まれます。

松崎さんの作品は、約20回もの漆を塗り重ねる贅沢な仕上げを施してあります。朱漆の下には黒、黒漆の下には朱を交互に塗り込んでいるため、色の深みを生み出し、歳月を経て表面の漆が磨耗していくと、下層に眠っていた色が少しずつ顔を出し、世界にたった一つしかない表情へと育っていきます。

蓋と身を合わせる目印には、小さな鮑（あわび）貝がボタンのように添えられました。漆の落ち着いた光沢の中で、控えめに輝く貝のアクセントが、用の美に遊び心を添えてくれる一品です。

〈Powerful yet Warm: Vessels Born from Meticulous, Devoted Craftsmanship〉

These pieces are crafted using the kurimono technique, where a form is painstakingly carved out from a single block of wood. Rather than assembling pre-cut boards, each piece is born as if carving life itself out of the raw timber.

Matsuzaki’s work features a luxurious finish, with approximately 20 layers of lacquer applied by hand. By alternating layers—black beneath cinnabar, or cinnabar beneath black—he creates an extraordinary depth of color. As years of use naturally wear down the surface, the colors hidden beneath gradually reveal themselves, evolving into a one-of-a-kind expression unique to the owner.

A small abalone shell is set like a button to serve as a guide for aligning the lid with the base. Amidst the calm luster of the lacquer, this subtle, shimmering accent adds a touch of playfulness to the "beauty of utility."

蓋と身を合わせる目印には、小さなあわび貝の装飾を。縁に施された錫は、重箱を重ねた時に美しい水平のラインを作り出し、全体の印象を引き締めます。
下段を深めに仕立てることで、ご飯ものとおかずをバランスよく収められるよう工夫されています。

柔らかに歪な五角形のフォルム。この有機的な造形こそ、一つの木塊から削り出す「刳物」ならではの醍醐味です。
また、蓋にあしらわれたのは、欅の力強い木目を美しく引き立てる「拭き漆」の塗り分け。使い込むほどに愛着の増す、端正な佇まいの二段重箱です。

A small inlay of abalone shell serves as a delicate marker to align the lid with the body. The tin-embellished edges create a striking horizontal accent when the tiers are stacked, lending a refined, sharp look to the entire silhouette. To ensure a perfect balance for your meal, the bottom tier is crafted slightly deeper, making it ideal for holding a generous serving of rice alongside various side dishes.

The form is a soft, organic pentagon—a gentle asymmetry that captures the true essence of kurimono, the art of carving from a single solid block of wood. The lid features a sophisticated contrast of fuki-urushi (wiped lacquer), which masterfully accentuates the bold, powerful grain of the zelkova wood.

This two-tiered jubako possesses a dignified presence, growing more beautiful and cherished with every year of use.
